MINECRAFT CLUB (GR. 4-8)If you love Minecraft this club is for you! We will meet, hang out, discuss Minecraft topics, and do some playing, building, and sharing.  A Minecraft ready device is not required as every meeting will have options for both in-game and out-of-game activities. All levels of skill are welcome!If you have a Minecraft ready device you may bring it to each meeting. PLEASE read the instructions on devices on our registration page!If you have a Minecraft ready device you may bring it to each meeting. For those bringing a device, please remember to:1) Login to and launch Minecraft on your device and choose offline play at home BEFORE bringing your device to the meeting. The middle school does not allow outside devices to access the internet. Play will be individual and offline. WORKING WITH RESIN WITH KATE HEINZE, OWNER OF PAINTED GOAT STUDIO!  Resin is a fun and sticky way to make some awesome creations. During this class kids will work with UV resin (no harmful chemicals) to create at least four projects including jewelry, bookmarks and more! Groton-Dunstable Community Education is proud to present                          GD Chess ClubFounded in 1991 and boasting a National Elementary Champion, Groton-Dunstable Chess Club is a fun way to improve your chess skills. CLUB PHILOSOPHYAll players should have fun in a relaxed atmosphere. Children learn while playing other children of varying abilities. There is no formal instruction and children must understand the basics of the game before joining the club. Good sportsmanship is important.WHO CAN JOINGroton-Dunstable Regional School District students of all ages are welcome. They must understand the basics of chess prior to joining (board setup, piece movement, main objective). More advanced moves (e.g. en passant, castling) are not required. CLUB RULES OF PLAY- Parents are required to stay with children in 2nd grade and younger.  -Players can be either actively playing or taking a break in break area. If not actively playing, players should be in the break area so they do not distract games in progress.- If a child is challenged to play, they must accept with the following exceptions: The two players have just played (i.e. a rematch is requested); the two players have already played 3 games that day (there is a limit of only 3 games between any two players per day).- Games are played following touch rules- if you touch a piece you must move it even if it was accidental. You may adjust your piece if you first inform your opponent of your intention to do so. There are no take backs. This keeps the club running smoothly. - Shake hands when a match is complete, and report the winner to the record keeper. - Parents, please do not help your child during the game, rather, advise them afterwards. - Win/loss rankings will be recorded & distributed throughout the year. There will also be an end of year tournament for active members. Trophies will be awarded to top players based on the yearlong rankings & tournament performance. Additional trophies will be awarded for participating members, however, fairly regular attendance is required to receive one of these (at least 15 games played during the season). - We strive for a fun atmosphere but it should not become distracting. It is essential that everyone feels comfortable in Chess Club. Some level of noise is acceptable. Fighting, teasing etc is absolutely unacceptable. Improper behavior will result in a warning and if it persists, parents will be informed and the child may be asked to leave for some period. - Families will provide snacks on a rotating basis. Please sign up to bring snacks once during the season. Snacks should be: ~ 2 gallons of juice, 3 boxes of cookies; paper cups and napkins. LOCATION: GD Middle School South Cafeteria:Time: 6:30pm-8:30pmDates:THURSDAY'S- 12/4, 12/11, 12/18, 1/8, 1/15, 1/22, 1/29, 2/5, 2/12, 2/26, 3/5, 3/12 REGISTRATION FEE: $85.00 Grades: K – 8 LIMIT: 60 Fills Up Fast!!!!
