Ready to switch roles in the kitchen? Kids’ Test Kitchen is flipping the script! In this one-time,
75-minute class, parents and kids team up alongside other family duos to create a delicious, kid-tested and approved (allergen-free) Southwest Corn Chowder.
In this special event, kids take the title of “Head Chef,” and they mean business! They’ll call the shots—guiding each step, balancing flavors, and bringing the recipe to life.
Parents, you’ve officially been demoted to “Sous Chef”—which means you’ll be right there in the
action, chopping, stirring, and assisting... but only under the direction of your Head Chef. (That means no stepping in, no taking over, and no critiques unless invited!)
Sous Chef Rules (a.k.a. The Fine Art of Being the Helper):
• Your child is the boss. (Yes, really.)
• Chop, stir, and assist on command
• Resist the urge to “fix” things
• No unsolicited critiques—let them impress you with “their” way
• The choice to taste is always one’s own
• Smile, laugh, and enjoy the role reversal
Expect lots of laughs, a little friendly role-reversal, and a whole lot of teamwork as kids shine and grown-ups practice the fine art of taking direction. Together, you’ll build skills like patience, communication, and collaboration—all while having a blast cooking.
We’ll wrap up with a pressure free opportunity to taste the results of all that hard work. Once the “kitchen” is clean, we’ll send everyone off with the focal ingredient and a printed recipe card so they can continue to show off at home.
